Brunswick – Demo

By bushy

Here’s one I should have done earlier! This CD has been floating about my residence for sometime and yet when I actually came to review it I found I had misplaced it. However, such problems were rectified when I found said CD and as such here is a review. Brunswick are a four-piece emo-rock band who hail from the mean streets of old London town. This demo features two songs that attempt to showcase what this band is all about.

It’s very hard to form lasting impressions on the basis of two songs but what Brunswick have produced on this demo is certainly pretty accomplished stuff. First up is “live favourite”, ‘Looking Glass Show’. It’s easy to see why this track is appreciated in a live venue. It builds, with intricate guitar work and decent vocals, into a track that holds your attention well. New track, ‘Control/Engage’ showcases a slower, subtler side to the band. It also proves to be a decent stab at a very populated genre.

On the face of these two songs it appears that Brunswick have the ingredients they need to carve themselves a little niche in the emo genre. Decent vocals, strong musicianship and good song writing hint at better things to come from these guys.
