Dividers – Demo

By paul

Dividers are a pretty new pop punk band from Swansea, South Wales. We’ve played our first show in February 2010 and since then have toured the UK, as well as playing with some of our favourite bands. We’ve been compared to bands like Get Bent, Iron Chic, Lifetime and even Jawbreaker, which is cool by us. Our song content is mainly based around the love/hate relationship we have with the town of which we live and the situations, problems and people that come with it.”

So says the band’s bio and I couldn’t disagree too much. Vocally the band remind me of Hot Water Music, particularly the gruff dual harmonies in ‘Reckless Is My Middle Name’. It’s a bit more Lifetime-esque in ‘If Monday Morning Was A Person’. In other words, it’s great melodic pop-punk with a gruff edge, but that edge doesn’t take away any catchiness or fact there are some pretty big choruses here. For a three-tracker, this does exactly what you would hope and leaves you wanting that bit more. Always a good sign. Wales seems to have a few good pop-punk bands of this ilk and Dividers are certainly another to add to that list.
