It’s been quite a while since I SPY STRANGERS released their EP ‘Set Your Sights On The Sky’ and they have finally returned with the long-awaited full-length album ‘The Kind Of Dirty You Can’t Wash Off,’ released through Second City Sinners.
Sounding reminiscent of their last EP, the album does not demonstrate any growth or development in the band and sounds outdated and, to be honest, far too much like The Blackout. Take ‘We’re All Gonna Burn For This’, the first track to be released; yes there are catchy choruses and gang vocals thrown in for good measure, but there is no individuality stamped on it to make it stand out from the crowd. The rest of the album blurs into one and 12 tracks seems a bit too much.
Admittedly after a few listens the album does grow on the listener, however it’s not interesting enough to really dedicate much listening time to. There is no denying that I Spy Strangers aren’t a hard working and talented band but unfortunately this is a bit of a let down.
