Ready Set Low – Lost At Sea

By paul

Ready Set Low formed in late 2009, consisting of Alex Sears, Connor Fathers, Joe Marriner, Harry Norton and Dan Clarke. After several months of writing, the band chose to record their debut EP, Lost At Sea, with Jason Wilcock (Fightstar, You Me At Six, We Are The Ocean) at Stakeout Studios, London. 2010 so far has seen Ready Set Low play as many shows as possible. Including support slots with rising bands such as Futures, Not Advised, All Or Nothing, Summerlin, MexicoFallz, Through Colour and many more.

Background info over, what are these guys like? Well they kind of remind me of a mix of Fastlane and Me vs Hero – vocally they’re more Fastline, musically more MvH. It’s a mix that works pretty well and it’s abundantly clear the band are on the right lines. ‘Down Like A Clown, Charlie Brown’, for instance, is a cracking song, while the soaring vocal harmonies in the chorus of ‘October’ show there’s a real band to watch here. I have found, listening to this record repeatedly, that those two songs are by far the best and that the rest is a little too filler for my liking. RSL clearly have the talent so I’d like to see them push their songwriting abilities a little, nail a few more catchy choruses and utilise those vocal harmonies better. If they can do that they will be a real prospect.
