Red House Glory – ‘Heart Of Gold’

By Jess Tagliani

Red House Glory are a riveting London-based group, and have been knocking about for four years now. And within those four years, they’ve been able to gather everything that’s learned and experienced to create bittersweet, and explosive releases. Their latest creation, ‘Heart Of Gold’ is no exception.

Punchy and raucous is what comes to mind upon hearing the opening chords of ‘So Easy’ – it fluctuates in tempo, as it has its moments of clear, shining adrenaline, before slowing down between their roaring choruses. Their plaintive cries of, “’Cause it’s so easy to be loved by you again” feels powerful, and just so right. ‘Reason’ is deliciously rich, replete with saucy guitar licks and glorious hooks that will reel people in quickly and effectively; tracks like this show why they’ve been compared to the likes of Brand New and Moose Blood, bands that create emotive songs that are still bursting with energy. And then there’s title track ‘Heart Of Gold’ – it builds into a towering, magnificent crescendo, complete with savagely strong vocals and riffs.

It’s a shame that ‘Heart Of Gold’ is such a short EP. But, on the flipside, they always say that you should leave your audience wanting more, and Red House Glory have nailed it. With their blend of charming melodies and silky smooth vocals, this rock quartet will have from all walks of life eating out of the palm of their hand within no time at all.
