Sometimenever – Father Hope

By paul

There’s a certain Refused-esque quality about Sometimenever; not so much in the level of the din the band make, but the way in which they seem to be able to switch intensity at will, leaping from the spoken word to something altogether more aggressive in the blink of an eye. There’s something a bit Million Dead-ish in the band’s sound and while I did find this album to…well, sound a bit similar on repeat listens, I did find that in short, sharp bursts this is energetic and enjoyable. It’s distinctly British too which makes a change in a genre flooded with bands that sound so nasal and Californian you’re frustrated to discover they were born in Fleetwood. I’m not convinced ‘Father Hope’ will be your new favourite album, but it’s well worth a spin.
