Sounds of Swami – Jack

By Andy

A while ago, we reviewed SOUND OF SWAMI’s last EP which was a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it affair of one minute blasts of intensity. This is their next offering, a four-track single that is a prelude to an upcoming debut full-length, released to coincide with a UK tour the band are doing through May 2011.

SOS still nod massively to a lot of the Dischord back catalogue, but this has much more of a post-hardcore feel to it. It’s no real surprise that the fourth and final track is a live cover of the Fugazi classic ‘Merchandise’ (done pretty much verbatim it must be said). Lead track ‘Jack’ smacks massively of early 2000s bands like Kids Near Water – intense yet convoluted noise punk.

It’s hard to learn much about what the album will be like from three tracks and a cover, but we’re pretty sure it’s going to be an interesting listen. Keep an eye on this lot.
