This is a bit of an off-the-cuff review, to be honest, as I felt I’d invariably write something crap in the morning. My impetus to write at nearly 2am comes from the fact that Throwdown are releasing such an embarrassment of an album.
I mean, I was never their number one fan, but I can acknowledge why ‘Burn’, ‘Speak The Truth’ and ‘We Will Rise’ get spun in your local alternative club’s metal room. This, however, is just something else. Track 2 ‘Day of the Dog’ is an unashamed rip-off of Pantera’s ‘Walk’. If you don’t have both available to you to see this your best bet may be to hope for someone to create one of those ‘hilarious’ YouTube videos playing the two alongside each other.
The rest of the record recycles their last album, throws in bits that even Disturbed would laugh at, and makes you wonder if we have actually regressed eight years. There’s the odd riff of note, and some suitably fine production, but such finds are like finding a nut in a turd: ultimately unpleasant, and leave you questioning why you were poking around in shit in the first place.
Utterly disastrous.
