Vera Cruz – Surviving Farah Fawcett

By paul

So here we have a French band with a Mexican name and an album title that pretty much makes no sense about an American actress. Who is now dead. Anyway, this is four tracks of pretty brutal and uncompromising melodic hardcore and it’s pretty damn good. It’s heavy, it’s hard and it reminds me of bands like Cancer Bats and Trash Talk in terms of intensity and passion. Admittedly I didn’t enjoy the latter’s last album all that much, but this has that same kind of aggression and enthusiasm and better songs. It’s the kind of EP where you can imagine limbs flailing and sweat dripping from the walls. It’s just an absolute beast of an EP from start to finish. Whether the band have enough about them to last the distance of an entire album remains to be seen, but for now this EP, available for free from their website, will do nicely thank you very much.
