Groezrock 2014: Friday (Green alcohol with ghosts on the bottle day)
It’s safe to say that Friday of Groezrock started with a bang with Astpai and then continued that high all the way through to NOFX. It was just good band after good band all day, so much so that you barely had time to stop off and get yourself some chips and pink sauce (though you always had time to get yourself some Jupiler/Jaeger/Monster of course. What would Groezrock beer without our three favourite vices?). When she wasn’t recording sessions, Maryam was running around taking photos of the whole day capturing as much of the magic and mayhem as she could.
Let’s relive it all again…
When Milo got on stage with NOFX every punk in the crowd lost their shit a little. Mega punks.
But we do always love a NOFX set and it was great to see Punk In Drublic even out of order.
Fat Mike, probably pointing in a "HEY LOOK IT'S MILO MOMENT" or perhaps just after he told that New Found Glory joke...
Once again everything is a-ok during Trio.
Alkaline Trio doing their thing. We all had a brilliant dance to their set.
This is what you find side of stage for the Menzingers.
All of our staff have seen Brand New at least once over the last month and we can all say that Groez was a pretty brilliant show for them.
You can just see the concentration on their faces.. maybe.
Brand New tearing up main stage.
This man seems to agree with us about how good the Lawrence Arms were. CHEERS!
All in all the Lawrence Arms were pretty goddamn brilliant though.
We could have had a gallery called Brendan Kellys Facial Expressions but we chose not to do so.
And again.... bustin' the moves.
Classic rock and roll pose.
Who is Brendan telling to shush here?
The Lawrence Arms! Chris is having a little think here..
Punx getting all loved up.
The Wonder Years are pretty much the perfect band for the Etnies stage though. Look at that crowd!
Is anyone ever not able to sing along when watching The Wonder Years? We're guessing no.
Dan avec dude with an AMAZING Hawaiian shirt.
The Wonder Years avec crowd surfer.
Things got a little emotional during the Menzingers. Even punx cry.
Are we calling The Menzingers one of the bands of the weekend? Maybe. Wait and see.
The new album sounding grand live though, everyone already singing along all the words.
Tom's forth hop of the day... ok this is more like a massive step.
Tom's third hop of the day.
Tom's second hop of the day.
The Menzingers on main stage was packed out. Tom's first hop of the day.
Iron Chic screaming it back at you Groezrock.
Surveying the chaos during their set, the Etnies stage is always the best for insane crowds.
Always plenty of people in the air during Iron Chic.
This guy got on the stage for Iron Chic and pretty much had no idea what to do. JUMP DUDE, JUMP!
Restorations are a good band for hair flips. We like hair flips.
Restorations were up first on the Etnies stage. Jon knows everything is a-ok.
See? We told you they were good at hair flips.
Restorations in all their glory.
Also Dan is always really smiley. Though if we'd had that sort of crowd opening up a stage we'd be pleased too!
Massive waves to the main stage crowd watching Astpai.
The main stage was PACKED for Astpai which was probably the best way to begin Groezrock.
Zock Astpai doing his thing.
Astpai started our day on Friday. They look good in black and white.
Every Groezrock gallery should start with a picture of Milo.
