Kent hardcore mob Pay No Respect released their new EP, ‘Hope For The Hopeless’, yesterday, and it sounds huge. We had a little chat with them to find out how they’re feeling about the release and what exactly they have coming up. Get psyched!
You’re just about to release your new EP, ‘Hope For The Hopeless’. It’s an absolute banger. How would you describe it to someone who hasn’t heard it before?
It’s heavy. Like really heavy. Imagine Arnold Schwarzenegger on a roid rage smashing you in the ears whilst shouting “neahhhhhh” repeatedly and you’re halfway there … But seriously. We wanted to step our game up and release a next level record for us. It’s a crossover hardcore/thrash two step fest in the space of 13 minutes with a bit of shredding for good measure. Something for everyone of the heavy persuasion.
How was the recording process?
We recorded with our good friend Oz Craggs (Feed The Rhino bassist) at Hidden Track Studios. We’ve worked with each other on previous releases so it was the obvious choice to get the best sounding record we could.
Have you played any of the songs live yet? If not, how psyched are you to unleash them on the world?
On our last Euro run we stuck the track ‘Hope For The Hopeless’ into the set. The reaction we got was worth everything we’ve put into this release. We’re definitely stoked to see what happens when we play more from the record.
Do you have any plans to release a full-length record at any point?
Actually we’ve already started work on the full length that will also appear on In At The Deep End Records. ‘Hope For The Hopeless’ is just a teaser for what’s coming next year.
What are your plans for the rest of 2014 after releasing the EP?
We hit the road again just a few days after the release. It’s a full Euro run with Unearth, Shadows Fall, The Acacia Strain and War of Ages, as part of the Razer: Hell On Earth tour. There are only three UK dates to hear the new tracks before we continue work on the next record.
How has your summer been so far? How do you find playing festivals compared to playing your own shows?
So far we’ve had a blast. We’ve already done a short European headline run, done the EP and shot a video for it. As for playing festivals, they are usually some of our favourite shows to play. Especially in the UK as we get a chance to see a lot of old friends alongside playing a banger of a show. Win win.
Do you have many touring plans after the festival season?
Other than the Razer: Hell On Earth tour, you will just have to wait and see…
