Introducing: EofE [August 2015]

By Lais

We had a chat with West Midlands five-piece EofE to find out almost everything we need to know about them, including the meaning behind their bandname and what their favourite moment as a band has been so far.

Hey guys! How’s it going?

Yeah really well thanks, it’s been an amazing ride so far and we’ve only just started.

Firstly, tell us a little bit about the background of the band. When and where did you form? And how did you end up becoming the band you are today?

Dan and Luke met at school and jammed in a few bands, then Dan started a band with a few friends, met Tom and he joined, then we brought Luke in. Mid 2013 we decided to make a real go of it so packed in colleges and jobs to concentrate full time. The other two guys couldn’t do that and weren’t committed so they left. We used session drummers until we met Nicky in February 2014 and he joined full time, then we added Reece in September 2014. And now we have a complete five-piece: we are all fully committed to making it work and building a career.

What does your bandname mean?

It’s inspired by the James Dean film ‘East of Eden’ and shortened to EofE, as that makes us quicker to find online and fits well with our logo and branding.

You’ve had a pretty great year already – you’ve played Great Escape, Camden Rocks and Download Festival. Tell us about them – did you have any standout moments?

All of them in truth, as it’s been our first year of doing the festival run so to play and then watch so many talented bands is just awesome. But if you’re going to push us for an answer we would have to say Download, because it’s DOWNLOAD!

How do you find playing festivals compared to playing your own shows?

It’s great. It’s party central and you know there’s people there that are new to you so it’s challenging and enjoyable at the same time. It’s always such a good vibe too: there’s a great camaraderie between the bands and crew. It’s not work.

What have you got coming up after this?

That would be telling…but we are currently looking into a few new tours and we have a lot of filming booked in, for some pretty awesome videos.

You’ve released a few songs. Have you got any plans to release a full-length album at all or is it too early to say?

We could tell ya but then we’d…you know the rest. All we can say is stay tuned. We’ve had July off for holidays and when we come back in August expect massive things!

How would you describe your sound to someone who’d never heard you before? Who are your influences as a band?

Real, live and energetic, melodic rock: we have our own sound. As five musicians we have an eclectic and diverse mix of influences from Elvis and The Beatles to Mallory Knox and Don Broco, Young Guns and Bon Jovi, Oasis, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Carnivool, Metallica and The Drifters.

What are your main ambitions? Where would you like to see yourselves in five years?

That’s easy: in five years we would like to be on a headline world tour of stadiums. For us it’s all about the ‘live’ so we want every show to be amazing for the audience and to be recognised as an awesome live band. Thanks for catching up with us and keep an eye out this month!
