Last minute gigs are always fun. Seeing THE BLACKOUT is always fun. Small, intimate gigs are always fun. Guess what you get when you combine them all?
So here, in London’s favourite “tiny” venue, The Old Blue Last, The Blackout have quickly pulled together a lucky few competition winners at 5pm for a special set which is to be filmed for an ITV show. This is the last show on their ‘Hope’ cycle, so what better reason is needed to play said album in entirety?
As they power through the album’s tracks, they manage to give the future ITV watchers something to look forward to, as the ever pesky Sean Smith decides that the tiny stage really is too small for all 6 of them and takes a little venture into the crowd. Screaming in a guy’s face, lifting his top over some girls head – leaving her feeling both overjoyed and violated at the same time – he fully breaks down the barrier between band and fans. Whether it’s in an intimate setting like this, at onstage at a venue like the Roundhouse like they were exactly a week ago today or playing huge festivals, THE BLACKOUT never leave a crowd disappointed – even if they do leave out the very last song of the album today.
With RAMMSTEIN preparing to blow apart the O2 Arena with unthinkable amounts of pyro just a short train ride away, THE BLACKOUT prove that the UK doesn’t need fire and explosions to make their live show great (although it wouldn’t do it any harm really).
