What have we here? The first YELLOWCARD headline slot in the UK for five (ish) years? In an intimate setting with acoustic guitars you say? Why the hell not?
Same venue and concept (ish) to when WE ARE THE OCEAN paid a visit a while ago, YELLOWCARD today prefer today to largely play the tunes as they would be but with acoustic guitars rather than revamp them extentively, and there are a few moments when that took away from the songs a little, but that’s more than outbalanced by how much fun it all is.
The band manage tonight to entertain even the most miniature attention span for a gargantuan two hours, dipping backwards and forwards through their catalogue between off the wall between-song banter and geekery, and there’s nothing about the evening that’s left to be desire barre personal preference in song choices.
It’s a true marker that the band are back, and once the encore clears (they’re allowed to do these now because BAD RELIGION said they could, for the record), there’s plenty in the crowd that would have watched another 4/5 songs.
