AIM Awards Launch Event @ House of Vans, London

By Jess Tagliani

It’s just over a month until the AIM Music Awards! To celebrate this upcoming night, the organisation behind these prestigious awards held a small launch party at the House Of Vans in London. Complete with a free bar and a small set from Frank Carter & the Rattlesnakes, as well as industry professionals from every walk of the music scene, it was promised to be a good night.

Kerrang! Radio presenter Alex Baker and Q journalist Danielle Perry were given the task of running through the nominations for this year; it’s incredibly exciting to hear labels that Punktastic champion, like Holy Roar, receive a nod, alongside the likes of bands that the site loves too, such as Press to Meco, PVRIS, and others.

Knowing that an organisation like AIM exists is thrilling enough; knowing that they constantly strive to support independent labels and artists is even better. An active example of this was having Frank Carter & the Rattlesnakes play a 20-minute set after the nominees had been announced – there wasn’t as much chaos as there usually is, but Frank still managed to clamber onto the bar to deliver the final notes of ‘Juggernaut’, before riding back to the stage on someone’s shoulders, declaring, “I love you Tank” to the man who gave him a lift back.
