Banquet Records owner Tolley wins Grove ward by-election

By Ben Tipple

Punktastic would like to extend their personal congratulations to Banquet owner Jon Tolley, who today was elected to council as the Grove ward representative in Kingston.

Representing the Liberal Democrats, Tolley gained 1577 votes in the by-election, prompted by the death of former Liberal Democrat councillor Chrissie Hitchcock.

His closest rival, Conservative Jenny Lewington, received 688 votes; 889 less than Tolley.

Tolley, who runs New Slang as well as owning the iconic independent Banquet Records, will now have a voice on Kingston council. “The whole reason for running is to make Kingston better than it currently is,” Tolley told the Kingston Guardian.
