Beloved Southbank skatepark has been saved

By Glen Bushell

After a lengthy campaign, the much-loved Southbank skatepark has been saved from being built over. Skateboarders will be able to remain at the Southbank undercroft for the long term, as well as BMX riders, and street artists as the planned refurbishment, that would have seen the skatepark gone forever, will still go ahead but will now not effect the area.

The full details of the agreement between the Southbank Centre and the Long Live Southbank campaign can be read here, and will be welcome news to all that were backing the skatepark, including London Mayor Boris Johnson.

Long Live Southbank.
