Sad news emerging this afternoon. The iconic Big Cheese Magazine is calling it a day, announcing that the 20th anniversary issue of the UK based independent alternative music magazine will be the last.
“It’s with heavy hearts that we announce that after 20 years and 179 issues of Big Cheese magazine, our next issue (on sale Feb 18th) will be our last and Big Cheese will cease publication in its current form.”
“We have had an absolute blast bringing you all the cool stuff from the world of Big Cheese since 1996 but it’s time for us to move on to new projects.”
The statement explains how work on Vive Le Rock and Louder Than War has limited time availability for Big Cheese. It also goes on to say that the magazine will make a “slight” return in May “in a different, heavier form.”
Hardback special?
“Plans are also underway for a one final Big Cheese gig as well,” it continues.
“We just wanted to thank you all for coming on this ride with us. Your support has been fantastic. Here’s to new beginnings…”
It’s upsetting to see another independent publication close its doors, and we wish all the music lovers over at Big Cheese the best in whatever it is they have up their sleeves.
