Cassels post new video for ‘We Wander In The Night’

By Ben Tipple

Noisy post-punk duo Cassels have released the official video for their track, ‘We Wander In The Night’.

In a lengthy Facebook post, the band ask their fans to read the description of the video prior to watching it – promoting donations to homeless charities.

The description reads:

“This is Peter and his dog Bronson. After moving down from Edinburgh to stay with a friend, Peter found himself homeless when his friend had trouble keeping up with rent payments and was evicted – Peter was unaware of these financial struggles before he moved. December 2014 marked his 14th month and second Christmas living on the streets.

We would like to thank him immensely for agreeing to feature in this video and for taking the time to talk with us. Throughout our time together he remained in such high spirits, a stark contrast to the situation he finds himself in, and this is a real testament to his character and was a truly humbling experience for us.

I know many of you may find this video distasteful, disingenuous or crass, but we would like to ask you to suspend your cynicism for a second and take this opportunity to at least consider the message we are trying to convey; namely that there are hundreds of thousands of people in the same position as Peter who are in dire need of your attention, time, and money. You can question our intentions or methods all you like but at the end of the day you can’t argue with this simple fact.

We paid Peter as much as we could physically afford to to feature in this video, and we will continue to donate half of all the profits we receive from the sales of the 7” single this song is taken from to the charity Crisis who do fantastic work with homeless people.

It is a charity which we’ve had close links to down the years and we have seen the difference they make, so please take a few moments of your time to donate as much as you can here: http://www.crisis.org.uk/pages/donate…”
