Doom Yoga: Downward Dog Comes To Download

By Tash Greene

Last Friday, LD Communications played host to ‘DO.OMYOGA’ in a green space next to their King’s Cross office. The diverse event was a taster session for people of the press to try out the exercise, in preparation for its debut at Download Festival this year.

DO.OMYOGA is the art of combining a yoga session with the background noise of Doom Metal; the heavy instrumentals and vibrations allow the participant to be a part of a physical, mental and spiritual experience, whereby they practice various postures, and utilise the energy from the music to relieve tension.

The morning session consisted of a humorous warm-up display from Download Dog doing his best impression of a downward dog on a yoga mat, followed by the instructor [Kamellia] teaching the Download leggings-clad class breathing techniques to control the body and relax the mind, and giving instructions on how a person can find a balance of comfort and exercise when stretching and contorting limbs to the best of their abilities.

DO.OMYOGA is great opportunity for fans to obtain their daily dose of zen, and combat the alcohol and/or music hangover, while being reminded that they are still at a rock festival. #Namaslay

If it sounds like your cup of tranquili-tea, the free 90-minute sessions at Download Festival will take place at The Side Splitter Stage from 11am on Thursday and Friday, and 9am on Saturday and Sunday, with a limited capacity of 250 festival-goers.
