The sad news that has been rumoured for a while has been officially announced – the iconic venue The Peel in Kingston is to close down for good later this year. A staple venue for mid sized tours for years and years, the Peel will be sorely missed. Bands will fondly look back at a venue where there would be afternoon strip bar sessions whilst they soundchecked and fans will remember how many bands have gone through there.

The venue have issued this statement:
‘It is so nice to see all the support for The Peel, thank you all very much. IT’S NOT OVER UNTIL ITS OVER! On the 13th the AMAZING Saves The Day are returning with The Front Bottoms, then on the 19th we have Uneven Structure, Hacride and Immerse. On the 26th Twang will be putting on his final night for an old school send off, and we round up May with Zebrahead on the 27th and the awesome Bury Tomorrow on the 31st, spilling in to June for Banquet Records last shows. The management are currently in the process of trying to organise a big party to say thanks for all your constant support, so keep your eyes (Sir Robert) peeled.’
