Kris Roe speaks!

By paul

An update from Kris Roe of The Ataris: “It has been a while since we last spoke so tonight I figured I would bring you all up to speed. Have spent the better half of the summer months in New York and the midwest writing and demoing what will become the next full length album by The Ataris. John and I wrote a collection of approximately thirty songs, We then narrowed that down to around fifteen, Twelve will likely end up going on the album. At this point we are unsure of when we will actually go in to record the album itself but I would say likely sometime just before or after the holidays. This would mean the record would be released approximately sometime in the early summer of 2005. Now remember this is still all merely speculation and subject to change, so members of the sewing circle may want to contain yourselves from spreading this word as solid. As far as the music goes, it is very dark, textural, atmospheric, very moody.. kinda like a soundtrack to a rainy day. Not so far removed from Swervedriver, Slowdive, David Bowie, My Bloody Valentine, Kent, Snow Patrol. I honestly just wanted to make a record that finally fits along with the music I listen to and I think that is what we will have done. I feel that sometimes in life many of your stronger points are often overshadowed by some of those things that we are often less proud of but this time around we don’t plan to give anyone that chance to overlook where our true inspiration lies. Hence making what we feel will be our most honest and unrelenting album to date. The music will speak for itself. Warmest regards. The Ataris.”
