The Leeds Festival will go ahead this year, but maybe not in Leeds! Leeds City Council last night gave Mean Fiddler permission to hold the festival at Bramham Park in Wetherby, despite strong objections from local residents and the police. After an eight-hour meeting last night, members of Leeds Council’s licensing and regulatory panel granted a provisional licence for the festival at Bramham Park, near Wetherby, which normally hosts more genteel equestrian events. It was expected that councillors would reject Mean Fiddler’s appeal after the violence last year and the result left Wetherby councillors ‘disgusted‘. The council will meet again tonight to discuss whether the festival can be held at Temple Newsam.
