UK punk and hardcore label Lockjaw Records will be releasing a compilation in support of Crohn’s & Colitis UK. Featuring twenty-six tracks from the label’s roster and friends, all profits will be donated to the charity.
“With this year’s compilation, in addition to spreading the word on new songs & bands, I was quite keen on doing something where we could ‘give back’,” says the label’s Rob Piper. “I have family members who suffer from the disease, so it just made sense to go with Crohn’s & Colitis UK.”
“I suffer from Colitis and found out a while back that musicians are particularly susceptible,” Piper’s colleague Lesley-Anne O’Brien adds. “So we suspected that a lot of people in the music scene might not be aware of what exactly the disease is and what the symptoms are. So to save someone out there pain, silence and the embarrassment, we wanted to spread some awareness, whilst sharing some good tunes!”
The tracklisting sees support by Pure Noise Records, Bomber Music Ltd, Big Scary Monsters, Failure By Design Records, Full House Records, Pee Records, Ass Card Records and NoReason Records, featuring the likes of Gnarwolves, Weatherstate, Belvedere, A Wilhelm Scream, Drones, Brightr and Petrol Girls.
There will be a launch show in Kingston on the 8th May, with Despite Everything, Drones, Screech Bats, Anchord , Bruce Willis, Brightr and Tom Ayott taking to The Fighting Cocks from 14:00 GMT. Details of the show can be found on Facebook.
