Louise Distras announces Nu-Punk and Grime collaboration shows

By James Davenport

“NU-PUNK, NU-SOUND, NU-ATTITUDE. Punk-rock and grime are uniting as one common voice for the disenfranchised.”

Against the backdrop of broken Britain, Louise DistrasRiskee & The RidiculeThe KennethsTINY K &  The Collective and Witch Fever are bringing two nights of punk, poetry and grime to London and Manchester this October.

“Music has the power to change the world. Nu-Punk takes the spirit and energy of rebel rock through the ages and we are building on it for a new generation of working class kids. Nu-Punk is a movement that stands on the shoulders of giants but has a different field of vision” says Louise Distras who will be headlining both shows.

Main support comes from Riskee & The Ridicule. A Kent based five-piece of punk and grime who take influence from The Clash and Roll Deep. Frontman Scott Picking isn’t afraid to tell you how it is.
“The youth in the UK have been voiceless, ignored and forgotten about for too long. We don’t believe in scare-tactics, dehumanisation and corporate greed that puts profit over people and now we are fighting back.”

“These shows are about more than bringing grime and punk together,” adds Louise Distras. “These shows represent the new energy here in the UK that has seen a record number of young people registering to vote against division, hatred and austerity.”

Louise Distras, Riskee & The Ridicule and The Kenneths hit Boston Music Rooms in London on 20th October with London Grime crew The Collective in tow. Championed by John Robb, Manchester all girl punx Witch Fever will kick off the second night of Nu-Punk at Satans Hollow on 21st October.
