Lush return with their first new material in 20 years

By Glen Bushell

After announcing their reunion tour last year, indie/rock band Lush have released their first new music in 20 years.

The reformed band, who were also an influential part of the 90’s shoegaze scene, will release their new EP ‘Blind Spot’ on April 22nd via the bands own Edamame label, and have shared the video for their new track ‘Out Of Control’. The bands final album ‘Lovelife’ was released in 1996, and the band officially broke up in 1998 following the tragic passing of drummer Chris Ackland. Vocalist Miki Berenyi said the following about the bands return:

“It certainly took some time to set up, but once we were in the studio, everything came together incredibly quickly. It was great fun! It’s been a long time since I’ve written Lush lyrics, and I realised early on with this EP that what I wrote about then is not what I feel comfortable writing about now. My perspective, and what is close to my heart, has changed, and I think that’s conveyed in the songs.”

Lush will play several dates throughout the year, including appearances at Coachella in California, and This Is Not a Love Song in France. The tour will also take in two sold out nights at The Roundhouse in London in May, before the band return to UK soil for an appearance at The Manchester Academy.

Limited vinyl copies of ‘Blind Spot’ are available to pre-order from the bands official website, and are personally signed by the band. You can see the dates that Lush will play in the UK below, as well as checking out the wonderful new track ‘Out Of Control’.
