Matt Skiba potentially confirmed as full blink-182 member

By Ben Tipple

Although it’s not much to go on, Billboard have posted a short interview with blink-182 vocalist and bassist Matt Hoppus in which he appears to confirm Matt Skiba as a more permanent member of the band.

Following information related to Hoppus’ new film score for ‘I’m Scared’; an animated short directed by Pete Levin, the article goes on to suggest that the blink-182 trio, completed by Matt Skiba rather than Tom DeLonge, will be heading into the studio shortly.

“In the meantime, Hoppus continues with Blink-182. He said the threesome — with Alkaline Trio’s Matt Skiba replacing guitarist Tom DeLonge — will head back into the studio in August,” it reads.

Details of both DeLonge’s official departure and Skiba’s ongoing status within blink-182 remain vague. Suggestion exists that DeLonge still holds rights to the band, and therefore recording with Skiba could be legally troublesome. All remains to be seen.
