Slaughter Beach, Dog stream new track ‘Monsters’

By Matthew Wilson

Jake Ewald’s having a busy year. Instead of simply resting on his laurels after the release of Modern Baseball’s ‘Holy Ghost’, the Philadelphia guitarist’s side project Slaughter Beach, Dog are also releasing their debut album ‘Welcome’ on the 30th of September through Lame-O-Records.

Hot on the heels of this announcement comes ‘Monsters’, all jangly guitars and heavy reverb. But underneath the sheen, there’s a darkness, sung from the perspective of a 22 year old girl still living in her parent’s house with the shadows of the past hanging over her.

With its focus on songs written from different fictional character’s point of views, ‘Welcome’ looks to be a departure from the introspection of Modern Baseball and a focus on more conceptional songwriting.
