Having very recently confirmed the release of their LP, ‘Tidal Wave’, Taking Back Sunday have unveiled the lead single and title-track.
It marks an interesting new direction for the band, stepping away from their emo footsteps in favour of a whole new punk attitude. Hell, this even sounds a little like Against Me!
“I think it’s going to be a surprise to some people,” John Nolan told hometown newspaper New York Newsday, as something of an understatement. “We’re all extremely excited about what we’ve done. It’s the culmination of things we’ve tried over the past two records. I think it’s the strongest record we’ve done since getting back together. We’ve freed ourselves up to go in new directions.”
“With our first records, we’re writing from the perspective of 17, 18-year-old kids and now it’s like as you grow old, the blinders get pulled back and you have a different way of looking at the world,” Adam Lazzara added, speaking to Entertainment Weekly. “There’s more of an Americana feel. But we realise anything we do is going to sound like Taking Back Sunday.”
‘Tidal Wave’ will be available from the 16th September via Hopeless Records.
