Tom Aylott streams ‘Providence’ EP

By Ben Tipple

Musician and former editor of Punktastic, Tom Aylott is streaming his new EP, ‘Providence’. The release drew inspiration from Aylott’s recent adventures in South East Asia, written and recorded over 2 days upon his return.

As detailed on Speaking Tongues, Aylott’s own label, each track was written in regard to a particular country.

-‘Martyrs And Friends’ is about the remnants of the Vietnam war in and around Ho Chu Minh City – the Cu Chi Tunnels to North and the Can Geo area South of the city.
– ‘Concubines’ was inspired by the remnants of the Khmer Temples in Siem Reap and asks questions of where our current civilisation is headed under the stewardship of capitalism.
– ‘Martial Law’ is pretty straight up song about old friends and festive drinking in Thailand.
– ‘Motions’ is a song about ushering in a new year and being hungover as hell in Kuala Lumpur.
