Each Sunday, Punktastic writer Charlie Mock takes you through the unmissable news from the past week, making sure you get the latest in new music, tours, festivals and videos.
In case you missed it, earlier this week we were excited to bring you an exclusive first play of ‘Election’ by Swedish punk rockers Tear Them Down. The track is taken from the band’s forthcoming album, ‘Their Fault, Our Problem’, which is set for release on the 31 January. Give it a listen below.
January can be pretty glum, so it was rad to report that Less Than Jake are going to be playing an in-store show at Johnny Cupcakes in London on February 15th. Tickets can only be won so be sure to check out the details of how to enter to be in with a chance of seeing the band play. The best part? If you don’t win tickets to the show you can still head down to the store for a meet and greet between 1pm and 2pm.
Festival announcements come in the form of Sonisphere this week. Joining Metallica, Maiden, Mastodon and more at the Mecca of Metal this July will be:
Limp Bizkit, Anthrax, Carnifex, Chas & Dave, Devin Townsend Project, Dropkick Murphys, The Sisters of Mercy, Silverstein, The Virginmarys & Voodoo Six
Tickets are available for £215.
Releases from a miriad of bands have been confirmed this week. My Chemical Romance have announced a greatest hits album, complete with 19 tracks and a two hour long DVD, Johnny Foreigner are set to release this March via Alcopop! Records and the new Manchester Orchestra record, ‘Cope’, will be available from April 1st. Also available on April 1st, The Used confirmed their new record, unveiling the tracklisting earlier this week and it’s available to pre-order now!
Manchester Orchestra also announced a US tour (more details at their website). Check out ‘Top Notch,’ the new track from the album below.
In support of their imminent release, Taking Back Sunday are set to play McClusky’s in Kingston. The show is being curated by Banquet Records and tickets are available as part of bundles with the new record. Head here for more info on ‘Happiness Is’.
Paving the way in the Italian alternative music scene, Stereo Age released their new video for ‘The Red Carpet.’ Fuelled by their love of New Found Glory, Four Year Strong and the like, you can’t go wrong with this piece of pop-punk perfection.
And if all that wasn’t enough, we’ve compiled a list of the tours we’re most excited about this January, February and March. It includes all time favourites RX Bandits who are hitting up the UK over the next two weeks, as well as We Are The In Crowd, Arms Aloft and more. If you missed it last week, we’ve also done the same for our most anticipated releases– check it out!
