I’m not sold on the name, let’s get that out of the way first. I am however sold on the sound, with Boston’s Fucko delivering a 90s alt-rock inspired fuzz, fronted by guitarist Sarah Desmarais and her understated grit familiar to the likes of Milk Teeth. It all sounds beautifully despondent and nonchalant, but then there’s the occasional shimmer of sunshine in the Weezer-esque melody. “If you want a chase, you’re going to have to run,” Desmarais slurs with a reserved bile, ultimately insinuating she doesn’t really care if you do or not. Fucko are going to do what they want either way.
