A track by track guide to Witterquick’s ‘Fire & Ice’

By Mark Johnson

Witterquick’s second EP ‘Fire & Ice’ is due for release on October 6 and to get you exited for the release, the band take us through an exclusive track by track guide of what to expect.

Shattered Suns

Shattered Suns is a fun one, and our current single. It was written a while ago and left on the back burner because it wasn’t working. We decided to cut half the chorus and change a few things up and it suddenly clicked, and really worked for us. Funnily enough the idea was spawned from a Western theme, like a Bonnie and Clyde outlaw type romance in the old west (we threw some Western flavours throughout the song if you listen carefully), and is kind of about working through with something despite the problems you’re having to face. Sometimes it’s not  conventional, sometimes it seems like you should give up. Sometimes you just have to jump.

Lie to Me

Lie to Me is about being true to yourself and enjoying the moment. It’s kinda the opposite of the song title, but it’s about not following social trends and conforming to whatever society says is acceptable. Be a decent human and stand up for what you believe in; that’s the message in this one: be true to yourself.

Hiding Place

Hiding Place sums up our frustration at the time. All the success of the previous year was jeopardised as Witterquick went through some pretty big changes and we hit the bottom. Hiding Place was the start of a new phase for us, all about letting go and moving on.

I Need a Friend Tonight

Friend sums up any relationship where communication has broken down, but you lie to one another to convince yourselves that things are okay, but that just causes a downward spiral. It’s all about wanting to fight to keep the relationship alive. It’s something I think that at one time or another everyone can relate to. Whether it’s a romantic relationship or a friendship.
