If you’ve ever struggled to see the link between pop-punk and what emo morphed into following the turn of the century. Living Means are building that bridge with ‘The Downside’. Taken from the forthcoming EP of the same name, it perfectly marries upbeat pop-punk with the vocal delivery of Taking Back Sunday, throwing in an extra dose of straightforward punk for good measure.
“‘The Downside’ is about feeling like the world is watching you, waiting for you to slip,” vocalist and guitarist of the Massachusetts quartet Zach Lemieux explains. “With social media and technology these days, nothing you do is private anymore.”
If there’s any danger of Living Means slipping up, ‘The Downside’ is most certainly not it. There’s a huge sound that rivals the biggest names in pop-punk, and that’s without even fully committing to that genre. Living Means have a bucket full of edge, and are about to bring the melody headfirst into summer.
