No Seatbelt DIY are back with a new compilation that showcases bands from the South West of the UK. The line up on this one is BRILLIANT and we have an exclusive stream of the comp before it’s released tomorrow. The South West is full of brilliant bands and this includes some PT favs like Bangers, Shit Present and The Fairweather Band, and showcases a whole ton of new stuff. It’s a brilliant way to get into what’s new in that scene across a whole variety of genres from punk to grunge to emo.
Alex Hall and Sam Hopkins are here to fill us in a little on No Seatbelt…
“No Seatbelt DIY has expanded since first forming to include the wider South West area, helping new and emerging bands from Exeter, Plymouth, Bristol and the surrounding countryside. For the launch night last November, Hindsights and Larkhill played at Exeter Cavern for a one-off show, supported by Devon locals Pretend Happy and Splitsville. Our real aspiration as a collective is to support local music, promote local bands in the genres, put on shows for them, and get relevant touring bands to use Exeter as a regular spot.”
“The compilation is another way we thought of for promoting the genres locally, if we can showcase the talent we have in the South West and hand out these CDs for free, we can hopefully help these bands get the recognition they deserve both locally and nationally. We are particularly proud of our second compilation which features what we feel are the best bands in the South West, including bands from both Art Is Hard Records and Specialist Subject Records. We are delighted to be releasing another 15 track record, just seven months after the first one, with 13/15 completely new bands. After the compilation is released we are celebrating our first anniversary as a collective with Muskets and The New Tusk in November at Exeter Cavern”.
