We’re ending the week with a bang with a brand new song from Kingston PA’s Hymn. Their debut EP, Mouth, is seeing a mid-June release via Running Around Records after being engineered by Jake Clarke from Superheaven. If you are the kind of person who longs for the heydey of Drive Thru Records this will be right up your alley.
Tyler ‘TJ’ Chau had this to say about ‘Mouth’, the track we’re streaming today: “When I look back on the time I’ve spent growing up, I realized that I’ve never really been able to look directly at people. Whether I’m conscious of it or not, I’m kind of always looking at the ground, away from people’s faces. It’s like… I’m just constantly uncomfortable in social situations, but I internalize my feelings and either wait for it to pass, or wait for a chance to bail out. “Mouth” is a song where the lyrics directly reflect those feelings and actions. I’m kind of working on it though; making a conscious effort to try to look people in the eye and stuff, but it still kind of gives me the creeps. I usually just try to subtly focus in on the forehead area… that’s close enough, right?”
