Today we’ve got a premiere from South Wales punks Last Vendetta. ‘Waiting By The Water’ is their new single released on August 14th. We asked the band about the song and video.
Danny: “Waiting By The Water” is about the trials and tribulations of my life as a youth in my home town of Southampton. It’s the most personal song lyrically to me as it describes the mistrust that surrounded me as a kid.
When shooting the video we wanted to get a dysfunctional visual setting and we were lucky enough to have access to a scrapyard. I think we probably shocked a few customers as the scrap yard was open as usual that day and we had up until closing to get everything finished. Just before we packed up the gear we went to find the owner to see if we could pay him to stay open a little later – the response was ‘no, you stuff needs to be out in 5mins or I’ll keep it’. Let’s just say we got the hell out of there…
Vinnie: I remember having a serious chat with everyone about whether we should actually shoot the scene where Tom smashes a car window with his bass. The first decision was whether or not we should actually ask the scrap yard owner and the second concern was that Tom’s bass was spanking new. He’d only just bought that bass after a load of our gear was stolen on the last tour. Tom’s reply was “I’m smashing that window now guys, so film it or not but here goes”
