An afternoon treat for you today comes in the form of an exclusive track from GIANTS’ forthcoming record! The track’s called ‘Won’t Be Told’, and you can check it out after the quick interview we did with the band!
FIRST UP, HOW ARE YOU GUYS TODAY?
Happy that the sun is finally shining!
SUM UP GIANTS IN AS FEW WORDS AS POSSIBLE
Four guys skating in a Sainsburies carpark in Essex started a band.
WE’RE STREAMING WON’T BE TOLD TODAY. WHAT’S THE STORY BEHIND THE TRACK
It’s inspired by the feelings that went through our singers head when someone he looked up to told
him he was living his life in the wrong way.
IS THE TRACK INDICATIVE OF THE FORTHCOMING ALBUM AS A WHOLE?
I wouldn’t say it’s indicative of the album as a whole, but it definitely reflects our attitude towards people
dictating/preaching how someone else should live their life in “the right way.”, Hence the lyric “Live your life and I’ll live mine.”
HOW DID YOU END UP PICKING THE ARTWORK FOR THE ALBUM?
A lot of record covers these days are dark and gloomy and sometimes really negative. We’re not that
type of band at all and wanted something simple, bright and positive to reflect our nature. We wanted
a record cover so easy to remember that someone could sketch it out on a bit of paper if they wanted to.
The skate-heart is our bands “logo” if you will so we thought it fitting to have the drawing of it on the front.
WHAT ARE YOU UP TO FOR THE REST OF THE YEAR?
Very good! We’re off on a full UK tour with our mates in We Are The Ocean the day after our
record comes out, (18th of September) and we’re looking to stay pretty busy after that leading
right up to December!
WHAT BANDS SHOULD PEOPLE LISTENING TO RIGHT NOW THAT THEY MIGHT NOT BE?
I know a few. Napoleon, Fallacies, Great Cynics, CB6 and Hospitals are all great UK bands that deserve
way more attention than they currently get.
WHAT RECORDS ARE YOU PLAYING MOST IN THE VAN AT THE MOMENT?
I am massively into the new Verse record at the moment, as well as the newest Foo Fighters record, but “Suiticide” by Pour Habit is a massive van classic for us on tour!
‘These Are The Days’ drops on 17th September, and you can see the artwork for the release below.
