Canshaker Pi's swoon-and-swagger racket was first introduced to us on their untitled debut album released late 2016. Having just finished a short UK tour, their guitarist Boris de Klerk put together a list of his favourite alt-rock tracks from the 90's.
01 dEUS – Suds & Soda
This is the opening track to Worst Case Scenario by the best Belgian band ever: dEUS. It’s a beautiful and interesting record, with a lot to listen to! It’s Boris’s favorite record of all time. Of all time I tell you! Killer track, with a lot of aggression and power. Wooh!
02 Beck – Ramshackle
Odelay is, in Canshaker Pi’s opinion, Beck’s best record and one of the best records ever made, with such diverse and great tracks. The sound and feel to this record is uplifting, playful and all you need to feel good and feel funky. And Ramshackle is an absolute tearjerker. B-e-a-u-tiful.
03 Pavement – In The Mouth A Desert
What is there to say? Killer track, killer record, killer band. Great drum fill. Funny but awesome drum fill. Sounds amazing, loud drums, lo-fi guitars, oh baby this is some real 90s stuff. The king of it.
04 Pulp – Common People
If you want to get a party started with some real cult classic guilty pleasure 90s magic, this is the tune you need baby! It’s like six minutes long so dance dance DANCE!
05 100% – Sonic Youth
Such a cool band that made so many cool records, so it’s hard to pick just one. But I did. And I chose this one! Sonic Youth showing us some real rock ’n roll action, with some amazing drumming by Steve Shelley, probably the best drummer ever.
