It's only a matter of weeks until one of the most beloved UK festivals comes back for the May Bank Holiday - Slam Dunk Festival.
In the run up, here at Punktastic we’re presenting ‘Postcards From Slam Dunk’, a series of quickfire Q+As with some of the bands that will be appearing at the festival.
We’re joined by Boston Manor to discuss their album ‘Be Nothing.’, festival appearances at Groezrock and Warped Tour, and how they’re going to make this year’s Slam Dunk set better than last year’s.
You’re back at Slam Dunk after your brilliant performance last year! How did it feel to be asked back?
It feels great; last year was a really great weekend. They were some of the stand out shows of that year, so to build on that and come back this year is something I’m looking forward to.
How will you make this set even better than last year’s?
Well, we’ve played a lot of shows since then and also put out an album. I think we know a lot more about what kind of band we are and how to really make those songs sound as good as they can be live, and how to make our set as entertaining as possible.
You released ‘Be Nothing.’ late last year. What have the reactions from your fan base been like?
Fantastic, the existing fans have been overwhelmingly positive about it and we’ve also made a lot of new fans as well. So we’ve been really lucky in that respect. I think hearing people who have never heard of the band before voice their unbiased opinions of the music they’re hearing for the first time is really interesting.
You played at Groezrock this year – how did that go?
It was awesome; there were a lot of people excited to see us, which is always a great feeling. People went pretty crazy, the weather was beautiful…good times all round.
And this summer, you’re off to play at the prestigious Vans Warped Tour! How does it feel to know that you’ll be part of one of the most well-known festival tours?
We’re really excited; it’s something we’ve grown up knowing all about but never had the opportunity to participate in. Now we get to go and we’re playing it, so we feel really lucky to be able to do that. People have told me it’s going to be very, very warm but that’s about as much as I’ve been briefed.
Lastly, tell our readers why they should come and see you play at Slam Dunk!
I mean, who else are you gonna watch? Seaway?
