Slam Dunk Festival, is back for its 12th year this May. We for one, can't wait

In the run up to the festival we are presenting ‘Postcards From Slam Dunk’, a series of quick fire Q+A’s with some of the bands set to appear at the event.

Next up we talk to Trash Boat’s frontman Tobi Duncan

How does it feel returning to Slam Dunk this year?

It’s an honour to be invited back. Slam dunk is arguably the best festival in the UK, particularly for our vibe. It’s always one of the best shows we’ll play in the year.

What do you enjoy most about playing festivals?

The longer I do this and the more people I meet, means that festivals are full of your friends. You can’t get anywhere without running into people you know. Great atmosphere.

What are your favourite festival memories, either playing or attending?

Our first ever Slam Dunk was pretty surreal. We had never played a stage that big at the time. Download last year was insane because when I stepped out and saw the whole tent filled with people it shook me up (in a good way). In terms of attending it would probably have to be the year Muse played ‘Origins of Symmetry’ in full at Reading. I watched them alone as the whole rest of my friend group was at another tent. It was intense.

How do you tailor your set for a festival compared to a regular show?

I can’t really say we do that too much. We don’t have enough music yet. We just play the songs we enjoy playing and we know will pop off.

Which bands are you hoping to catch over the weekend?

Jimmy Eat World, Four Year Strong, Taking Back Sunday, Every Time I Die & Thursday for me.

You’ve started working on your second album, how are things progressing with it so far?

We head to the studio in February! Finishing touches are being worked out at the moment before we start pre production around the 24th Feb. We are hoping to have a single out before Slam Dunk.
