PREVIEW: Hevy Fest 2012 Red Bull Bedroom Jam Stage

By Tom Aylott

Now only 3 sleeps away, Hevy fest feels so close we can smell it, and today’s final preview should just about tip your excitement into overdrive.

So, take a look at our picks from each day of the Red Bull Bedroom Jam stage, and rejoice!

FRIDAY

1. ACODA
Easily our favourite from last year’s RBBJ bands, Acoda have made an appearance on a few of this year’s festivals, and they’re still very much ones to watch. A great late afternoon watch once your tent is set up and ready to go!

2. BROTHERHOOD OF THE LAKE
One of the UK’s finest rising hardcore bands, BOTL may be tucked away from big double top, but that’s not a reason to miss them at Hevy. They’ll be just around the corner and well worth watching!

3. DEMORALISER
Another one that you need to be paying attention to as soon as possible from the UKHC scene, Demoraliser take the position of sub-headliners on Friday, and are well worth sticking your head in the RBBJ tent for!

SATURDAY

1. LANDSCAPES
After watching these guys at Crash Doubt earlier in the year and hearing their imminent album, we’re convinced that Landscapes are going to be one of the leading lights in the UK next year, so make sure you get into the RBBJ stage on Saturday for a ganders!

2. THE LONG HAUL
Last time we saw The Long Haul was in Brighton’s Green Door Store, and we’re determined to make sure we catch a bit of their set at Hevy this weekend. They’re a band you’ll be hearing lots more from over the next year or so as well, so make sure you’re there.

3. BRUTALITY WILL PREVAIL
A fantastic Saturday headliner for the RBBJ stage, Brutality Will Prevail are stunning live, and well worth a few moments of your time before the headliners of the other stages kick in!

SUNDAY

1. LISTENER
Somehow we’ve never had the joy of watching Listener live, and after losing them to the RBBJ in the reshuffle, we still can’t wait to get involved with Listener at Hevy. One of the most interesting bands in the scene bar none, don’t miss out!

2. LEMURIA
After last year’s cancellation, Lemuria are bound to be a massive draw at this year’s Hevy fest, so get in early for the US indie-punks at risk of missing out entirely!

3. PACER
Having just releases an awesome album in ‘Making Plans’, we’re so happy to see Pacer playing at Hevy this year, especially as they’re made up of some of the nicest people in the scene. Go sing along to some ex-Steal magic!

Well, that’s about it for our Hevy preview, stay tuned over the weekend for updates from the festival, and we’ll have some great coverage coming in the weeks following the festival from our stage!
