For our final Reading Festival preview, we’re going to explore Sunday’s line up in as much detail as possible so that you don’t waste that precious final festival day watching a load of garbage. Hopefully.
Main Stage
THE GASLIGHT ANTHEM
Having just released a corker in ‘Handwritten’, The Gaslight Anthem will be right at the top of their game at Reading on the Sunday. With a big main stage slot to fill, you can be sure that they’ll be bringing the hits for the mid afternoon Sunday weary.
PULLED APART BY HORSES
Opening the Sunday main stage at Reading this year is the wonderful Pulled Apart By Horses, and though they’ve got everything to prove, their live show is more than capable of scaling up to the huge stage and drawing in thousands of new fans.
FOO FIGHTERS
Foo Fighters are the perfect closers for Reading, and though they’ve headlined before, Dave Grohl and co are always fantastic live and will most likely be on the top of their game.
Lock Up Stage
LESS THAN JAKE
If Foo Fighters don’t tickle your fancy, then you could do much worse than going to watch the masters of third wave ska do their thing. Less Than Jake are always stacks of fun and there are many, many worse ways to finish off a festival.
POLAR BEAR CLUB
With last year’s Punktastic alum of 2011 under their belts, we’re super excited to watch PBC do their thing. Huge amounts of hits can be expected, but make sure you’re in early as the tent will probably be rammed.
APOLOGIES, I HAVE NONE
Playing their biggest show to date, Apologies will be having the time of their lives at Reading, and it’s a great chance to see one of the UK’s finest prospects in action.
In all honesty, the Lock Up stage is AMAZING on Sunday, so you should just park yourself there all day.
Festival Republic Stage
DZ DEATHRAYS
Awesome crossover rock from Australia, DZ Deathrays make their first appearance at Reading this year, and there’s every reason to suspect that they’ll be one of the band’s of the weekend.
THE FUTUREHEADS (A CAPELLA / ACOUSTIC)
Nuff said.
BBC Introducing Stage
MARMOZETS
We couldn’t do a festival preview without including those little Northern bastards in Marmozets. Their first appearance at Reading/Leeds this year will cap a great year for them, and should be a big highlight of the weekend.
TALL SHIPS
Closing the BBC Introducing Stage this year is the brilliant Tall Ships. They’re honestly one of the most interesting live bands to come out of the UK in ages, and their alt-Indie is not to be missed – especially if you’ve never seen them before.
