PREVIEW: Vans Warped Tour UK

By Tom Aylott

Though the line up had a few mixed reactions in our ever-charming community, the UK “date” of this year’s Warped Tour has sold out entirely, and certainly has been one of this year’s most talked about musical event.

The Alexandra Palace all-dayer on 10th November carries some of the biggest names in rock music – there’s no denying that the festival has moved far away from its skate punk roots – and we’re here to tell you about the five that we’re looking forward to most.

NEW FOUND GLORY

It’s no secret that we’re big NFG fans here at Punktastic, and they’re probably THE band that we’re most excited about. We’ve seen them countless times along the way, but as soon as they kick in, we’ll be sure to lose all of our collective shits. Their also doing the Road To Warped, so you have zero excuses to miss them.

LESS THAN JAKE

In a very similar way to NFG, Less Than Jake are on Road To Warped, we’re big fans and we’ve seen them a bazillion times. The band are back on a fine run of great releases, and after a solid Reading/Leeds Lock Up headline slot, they’ll be unmissable at Warped UK.

LOSTPROPHETS

We’ve been taking a sneaky peek at the setlists from Lostprophets recent shows, and they’ve been wheeling out the classics on their current tour. Add that to the rather charitable thing that they put together with Teenage Cancer Trust (*PLUG* READ THE DETAILS OF THAT HERE *PLUG*), and it’s hard not to get excited. Expect hits and pits in equal measure.

FUNERAL FOR A FRIEND

FFAF had a bit of a ropey Slam Dunk this year. Countless tech problems and a very new drummer left them with much to prove over the next year, but Warped UK will be the perfect proving ground for the band. A new album is on the way, and you just know that you’ll have a big smile on your face for the whole set.

BRING ME THE HORIZON

BMTH have been tucked away recording the follow up to genre classic ‘There Is A Hell…’, and Warped UK will mark their true return to the live scene. Oli Sykes and co are undoubtedly one of the UK’s biggest exports, and they’ll be sure to remind everyone that they;re a force to be reckoned with at Alexandra Palace.

We’d try and give you a harder sell for the weekend, but we’ll just leave the lineup poster here for you to get excited about… if you’re going, we’ll see you down the front… if not, then it kinda STBU
