Today we have a stream for you from Smithsfoodgroup DIY and LTD Records with four European punk-rock bands, Yards (UK, with a.o. former The Ghost Of A Thousand vocalist Tom), Rites (NL), Astrid Lindgren (PL) and We Are Dust (DE).
All four bands have come together to submit 2/3 new or exclusive tracks for the tape release of the comp. This release will be available as a free download and cassette (limited to 100 pieces, 50 green for Smithsfoodgroup DIY (NL) and 50 blue for LTD Records (UK) from September 20th onwards. Both the labels start pre-orders along with the stream coming Wednesday.
“This release has been in the making for a long time,” says Maartje Buise, involved heavily in the concept. “There’s a vibrant scene all over Europe and while DIY is the ethic all bands and both labels take after, it also puts a limit on the reach of the output. The goal is to create attention for each of the four bands out of their own countries (UK for Yards, Poland for Astrid Lindgren, The Netherlands for Rites and Germany for We Are Dust), while simultaniously showing off some of the best current underground punkrock in Europe.”
“The artwork is done by DNZ Artwork, an artist from the south of the Netherlands. The original idea of the artwork was creating it ‘Age of Punkrock’ style and having it coincidence with the release of Age of Ultron, but after a few delays timing turned out to be perfect for a Fantastic Four’s Silver Surfer.”
