Young Kings bring in the new days with their ‘Old Days’ video

By Ben Tipple

It’s still early days for Bedfordshire five-piece Young Kings, but that hasn’t stopped them drawing comparison to a host of melodic rock outfits, ranging from fellow upstarts Crooks to established artists Deaf Havana and Mallory Knox. On ‘Old Days’, the opening title-track of their debut EP, they showcase their delicate songwriting and expansive guitar riffs. It’s another addition to a sea of innovative post-hardcore that’s shaking up the increasingly stagnant melodic rock scene.

Vocalist Will Ellis explains the track: “‘Old Days’ is about the relationship between two people and how you make all these plans for your future together but ultimately one person changes and follows a different path. It’s a personal song to me and writing this and the record has been extremely therapeutic.”

Young Kings’ ‘Old Days’ EP is available now. The band will be hitting the road in April and May alongside Nineteen Fifty Eight and Veridian.
